Amul Dark Chocolate comes at an affordable price of Rs.100 for 150 grams of product. The packaging mentions that this chocolate is 55% rich in cocoa, which is why I did not find it to be too bitter for my taste. I have earlier tried 65-72% dark chocolate and those are really bitter.
I really like the packaging of this product. The outer packaging is hard and sturdy, while the chocolate itself comes wrapped inside in a sealed foil. The letters on the packaging are written in bold and not imprinted but in raised form so that you can feel them on touching. The quantity inside is enough to suffice one person for a week, given that you eat only one row of chocolate everyday. For a chocolate addict like me, this bar lasts for four days at the most. I think the Amul Dark Chocolate bar would make for a nice gifting option, specially for those who enjoy dark chocolate.
The product itself is quite tasty with low sugar content and a bitter aftertaste, nothing that someone who hasn’t ever had dark chocolate, would find unpleasant. It contains 0% trans fat, which is a great thing. This is plain chocolate minus any inclusions. Amul always devotes the utmost importance to quality and though their chocolate is not among the bestsellers in India, all those who have tried their products would go back and repurchase, I am sure. As we know, cocoa is a great source of antioxidants, so chocolate lovers have all the more reason to savor this dark chocolate bar from Amul.
It is not very rich dark chocolate but somewhere in between. So, if you are looking for something bitter, this might not suit your palette. Also, this cannot be a substitute for dessert after a meal because the sweetness factor is low.
This bar does not melt very easily. I like to keep my chocolates stored in the fridge and then take them out and keep outside for some time before consumption. This helps the chocolate to melt a little and taste even better in the mouth. I would definitely recommend this tablet from Amul as one of the more affordable options available in the dark chocolate category.
