About three years ago I first came across a small packet of Amul Mozarella cheese in the local supermarket. As it was excellent for making pizza I decided to buy this regularly and was delighted to find that it is available in 1kg packaging as well, at a much more reasonable price.
In fact I think it may be the cheapest retail price for real Mozarella cheese in the world and I would not be surprised if Amul is exporting Mozarella cheese to Italy!!! I am sure that Amul supplies to all the local Pizza outlets such as Domino, Smoking Joe, Garcia, Udupiwallas, 5 star Italian and others.
The quality of Amul Mozarella has been consistently good, the cheese tastes of authentic Mozarella and makes a home made pizza bread pizza taste like Dominoes! Amul Mozarella also goes very well in toasted cheese sandwiches or just plain cheese toast on single slice, and with combination of tomatoes, onions etc. Production is however erratic and sometimes it is available abundantly, sometimes not. This is an excellent product which Amul should market better in retail. Perhaps they do not need to as they must be getting bulk orders from professional pizza outlets.
