I purchased a Phillips MCD 396 micro system from an electronic store, “Anandamela”, in Gariahat, Kolkata, India, on December 5, 2009. Mr. Biswajit De, the person in charge of the music section of this store, sold me a used and dirty system on display, and promised that he would deliver me a brand new item in two days and return the old system back to Phillips.
At home, I also realized that the cassette player does not auto stop while rewinding/forwarding the tape. After two days, when I called them up to figure out the replacement status, they came up with the excuse that the item is not in their stock and would arrive within next three days. When I did not receive any correspondence after a week, I called them up again and this time they were giving me a delivery notice saying that the item was on the way to my home.
I came back home immediately to receive it. It took me a few hours to understand that they lying once again. I called up the store and a lady, Ms. Swati, picked up the phone who came up with another excuse saying that Phillips had temporarily stopped delivering this particular product to their store.Under these circumstances, I can not use the system effectively and I am also failing to get it replaced by the store. Nowadays, it has become a daily routine for me to call up the store and listen to their lame excuses or a fake delivery promises which never materialize.
They also promised that Phillips representatives have been notified for demonstration which never happened either. I have been completely stupefied by the store and in particular, by these two people. I am really helpless now and have no patience to deal with them any more. Therefore I though of suggesting people to be very cautious about this electronic store while purchasing expensive items. Remember that it is not the concession price, rather the service that will help you in the long run.
