Shree Krishna International`s ’’Andaaz’’, directed by Raj Kanwar and produced by Suneel Darshan stars Akshay Kumar with the two beauties Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra.The film is doing very well at the box_office mainly because it marks the debut of Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra(Although she has starred in The Hero still this is her REAL debut).
The music of the film is also a HIT!The film was scheduled to release in April but its release postponed but this film was hyped very well, by showing the two beauties, Ms.Universe Lara Dutta and Ms.World Priyanka Chopra, in clothes which are exposing their beautiful bodies.The film is nothing else than that and does not live up to the expectations.
The film revolves around two childhood friends, Raj(Akshay Kumar) and Kaajol(Lara Dutta).Raj`s leg is broken and he cannot run like other children and so he is complexed but then Kajol makes him realize that he can run and walk.One day, his friends laugh at him that he cannot run but that day Kajol makes him run and says that if he is her true friend then for her friendship he will have to run.Raj is in full JOSH and starts running (this scene is just like the one which was in Rishtey.Nothing new!).Afterwards, Raj becomes a very good football player in his college and he gives full credit to Kaajol.Raj falls in love with Kaajol but is unable to express his love(what we have witnessed in several Hindi movies).Kaajol`s greatest dream is that someone someday would fly her away and Raj is called by the air force and becomes a pilot.Raj goes for 18 months for training and when he returns he gets the SAD news that Kaajol is in love with someone else(Aman Verma) and then they get married.He is depressed and then a girl Jiya(Priyanka Chopra) enters in his life and she wants him to get out of the depression.Jiya falls in love with Raj but Raj discovers that she is Kajol`s sister-in-law.But, as Raj and Kajol are destined to meet each other, their lives unite them again.
The story seems very much like Devdas.I don`t mean its exactly like Devdas but to some extent, it strikes resemblance to Devdas.Akshay is Devdas, Lara is Paro and Priyanka is Chandramukhi.The story offers nothing new and the same old sweet lovey dovey story is unattractive.When one will get out of the cinema hall he will be disappointed.
Raj Kanwar has given duds like Ab Ke Baras and Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega and now he is back with this AWFUL film.His direction is nothing great.Sanjay Sankla`s editing is not crisp and the film is filled with irritating scenes of Johnny Lever.Abbas Ali Moghul`s cinematography is excellent and he has shot beautiful locales exquisitely.Screenplay is weak.Dialogues are at some places good.Music is a hit and Nadeem_Shravan have done good job.Choreography is amazing!
And now the performances!
Akshay Kumar plays the role of Raj with utmost sincerity but at some places he looks disinterested.
The two beauty queens look beautiful and act very well.
Lara Dutaa is excellent in dramatic scenes in the second half.Though, her voice is dubbed which I think was not right because she speaks very well.
Priyanka Chopra is amazing!Her dialogue delivery, her attractive looks and her figure makes her look gorgeous.
Aman Verma is effective and impactful in short role.
The rest of the supporting cast is so-so.
Johnny Lever is very irritating and the start of the film is very irritating with irritating kids.
Come on!There`s no kid who is so emotional in such a young age but it`s a Bollywood masala film!
On the whole:
Andaaz is disappointing and we have seen thousands of film with this kind of story.This is a tried and tested formula which would not make anyone feel interested.The first half, especially, is torturous.Miss it!
