’Anniyan’ released amidst lots of expectations. But, is it really a worth film to watch ? Is it really necessary to spend 27 crores for this film ? Lets find out.
I don’t want to bore again by outlining the story of this movie (Although the story of the film can be sketched in a sentence). Many of them have done this work very well. I wanted to analyse the film and the characters. Shankar always wanted to follow the tradition of making a pure commercial movie with a message in it. He has tried the same in this movie too. Unfortunately, the message he wanted to convey is nothing new and is same, as in his previous movies. Is there any need to re-shoot a movie with different characters and different screenplay at the cost of 27 crores ? The Director is lucky enough to get financed for this movie.
There are lots of confusion in characterization in this movie. I see DGP (Prakash Raj) always come in different get-ups at the murder spot for investigation. I really don’t understand the reason behind this. It looked very funny. The main concept of this movie is Multiple Personality Dis-order (Good use of the Medical Jargons). But, I think it has been over exaggerated in this movie. ’Ambi’ (Vikram) was severely beatup up by the Gundas and loses his consciousness (Very severe, was irritating too). Then his mind splits into ’Anniyan’ and gets up (Now physically fit) to fight against the Gundas. What a miracle ?!!!. The same old excuse for Thamizh cinemaas ?
Another notable thing in the movie is, stunt with karate masters. Although this is first of its kind in Thamizh movies, it fails to impress for those who had seen the English movie ’Matrix’. The stunt was copied from this movie. Tremondous hard work has been done for this. But, it does’nt really stick with the story and its totally unnecessary and just aimed to add glamour to the movie.
Another terrible thing is ’Anniyan’ appears before the public very freely to make a statement even after brutally killing five persons. The commando force which surrounds the place fails to capture him. Again, same old excuse for Thamizh movies ? What is hurting me in this place is, ’Anniyan’ in his statement to the public refers Indian economy ranks 49th in the World. But, actually Indian economy is the 4th largest in the World (May who downgrade India be punished properly in the Hell). Many small small things have been shown exaggerated like this.
’Ambi’ when becomes angry and tensed gets severe headache and his mind goes to blank and splits into ’Anniyan’. Justified very well. But, how does ’Anniyan’ turns suddenly into ’Remo’ and vice versa. My god. I am confused. Am I asking too many logical questions for an ordinary Thamizh cinema ? Excuse me please.
The way the ’Anniyan’ commits murder is really brutal and is very much irritating. This is really not suitable for kids to watch. I wonder how the censor board managed to certify this film as ’U’.
Too many cons ? Excuse me please. I have written very few. There are many in the film. Anyway there are some pros too. The picturization of the songs are very good and pleasing. Vikram’s acting is another big plus for this movie. He has remarkably done very well in the acting department. Vivek has done a decent comedy track.
Well. This movie is not very much recommended. Just another movie. If you have too many time and no other better option then watch this movie.
