It was when I was searching for the something to read, I come across Another way to live by R L Kapur. Though at first it didnt seem like a spiritual book as writer claims he was the Atheist, however the search for him was to get to the bottom of the realities of Yogis, seers and seekers.
This book is like a personal diary. He took one year sabbath and went on to one guru for 1 year to do the yoga and get to know how one feels after going through the spiritual phenomenon which is so called renunciation. He made one diary whose contents(concise) are their in book, wherein entries were made by him, his wife and his Guru.
Best part is author was a smoker, used to drink and had all the common problems which generally each of us has. He holistically confess in his diary how yoga transform him physically, mentally and made him believe that some or the other positive affect yoga has.
Not only he took yoga and tested on himself, its after effects, but also he interviewed so many Gurus, Yogis etc, and could not find much about some kind of paranormal powers with them which he thought should be with them. However he was not disappointed too as he find much more realistic problems with them which was unknown to common people about them.
He also being a psychiatrist himself, tries to find the mental states of the seekers and found their was something which was not easy to comprehend and he just noted as it is his observation for the benefits of the readers. He eventually found that in end there was much hidden from his eyes and he could not find the actual truth or the yogis which are true. Only disappointment is he died before he finished the book, hence it might be possible that he might got something however that was not written and hence could not be published.
Dont read this book just to time pass, every single line in this book is written as a quest for something untold. My suggestion is it will better to read little Patanjali Sutras before you take this book as many times author refer that book and that too little frequently in beginning chapters.
