Anoushka Shankar has an incredible heritage. The lineage consists of a Stalwart of the Maihar Gharana like Pandit Ravi Shankar, her doting father. She has been nominated for the Grammy Awards and we are supposed to be proud for that. Her music takes a back seat in comparison to her image as a Glamour Doll. Had she been just another person, her musical talents, if any, would have been lost against other priorities of life. In spite of tremendous projections by her father and the Media, she has failed to create a niche solely by her merit as a musician. I sincerely wished she devoted more time and dedication to at least come up to a level where she can do justice to the name of her father, the one and only Pandit Ravishankar.
