What a waste!

After watching Anthony kaun hai, I feel pity (besides regret that I wasted my precious time and money) that such low quality cinema even produced, leave alone stars like sunjay dutt and arshad wasi acted in it. The film doesnot have any thing to offer to the audience but torture and boredom.it has comedy which would never make you laugh, romance, which lacks spark, having mainly skin show. There’s some action. But all the good songs are towards the end!

You enter the cinema hall expecting to get an answer to the identity of the hyped up Anthony. You’d be disappointed because he’s just a journalist who’s face isn’t even shown!

Now the story …..if that’s what you call it….. hold your breath because its long, boring and complicated. Ok, here goes…… in the shortest version possible – theres a magician who uses his power to loots some diamonds and hides in the forest, in front of his daughter.

On the other hand, madan, a hitman (sunjay dutt) hunts down wasi and thinks he’s Anthony. But wasi says he’s not Anthony but champak choudary and tells his story. He was a conman making fake passports and having a girlfriend whom he’s about to marry. But fatefully on the wedding day, he’s arrested for his deeds and his girlfriend marries someone else. While in the jail, he starts a small con business. There he meets the magician who’s arrested since around fifteen years for the diamonds perhaps, and he asks wasi to help him get out by telling him about the diamonds. Wasi bribes the jailer and manages for his and the magicians release.

On yet another hand, theres this mystery man Anthony, who is bold and brave journalist who records a live murder by a rich spoilt brat, lucky Sharma. He in turn gets the journalist killed.

Now that wasi is out of jail, he opts for a makeover and fatefully gets the identity of the dead Anthony. Lucky Sharma seeing Anthony still alive, orders to get him killed again but instead the magician raghuveer is killed.

He falls for the magician raghuveers daughter( minisha lamba). They both together plan to get the diamonds out. But unfortunately that piece of land was inside the jail. He had to go to the the jail somehow.

While undergoing an identity change, wasi looked for anthony’s passport in his house and found the murder tape too. So, he shows it to the police and tells them that lucky sharmas men were after him and demands for protection-in that very jail. Then he manages to get the diamonds easily as there were no bindings on him, he was a guest.

But minisha is going back to India. Champak choudary(wasi) has the diamonds and since he loves lamba goes to the airport to stop her. Dutt leaves him alone.

Sunjay dutt is completely wasted and wasi has done has done justice to his role. Lamba looks very hot. The movie gets boring and confusing because of the complications in the story. It tends to pick up on a couple of occasions but without success.

The only positive things about the movie are

  • the way the story connects

  • minisha lamba

  • a few songs.

Overall its not a great movie. Its uninteresting, unabsorbing low standard ‘comedy’ movie. Its definitely not worth watching in a theatre.
