Somebody call Steve Austin!

I have had AOL DSL service before the new promotions began. You know the one...they are using the intro to the old Six Million Dollar Man...’’We can rebuild it, make it better, stronger, faster.’’ I used to have the service but we changed apts. Moved from upstairs to downstairs. I immediately called AOL and let them know I need to change my service address and location. This would cause a Line Change. A disconnection of my current service and then a new reconnection. I would have to CALL BACK to do the reconnection. Why? Can’t they just set it up from there? Never mind. I called back in the required 72 hours and set up a new start date. Fine. I should have the email saying my service was started in 7 - 10 business days. Cool.

I swear it was more than SIX WEEKS of me calling them, putting in the request several times before they figured out they’d have to delete my old account and then start a new one!!! Finally I get the email say my dsl is operational. YAY! I hook up the same machine I was using upstairs...Nothing. I unhook every thing, and re hook it. Nothing again. So now I have DSL service but the machine/modem isn’t working. Fine. I call them. I have to ’’download drivers’’....Fine. I download drivers...and I dl them again...and again and...you get the picture. I downloaded the drivers and nothing ever happened. I did everything they told me and nothing worked. I finally got someone in tech support to understand that everytime my computer went to install the ’new’ hardware, it was looking for a ’disk’. I never got this disk. She said. ’’Oh you have to buy it.’’ Yea, right. That’ll happen. So after three and a half months of trying to get DSL service and then not being able to use it. I have disconnected from AOL’s DSL Service. Between the ineptness of tech support and the price jump (from $21 bucks to $50?!!) I’m outta there. I’ve signed up with Netrox. I’ll let you know how THAT goes.
