I use to have AOL Instant Messenger even though I never liked using AOL as an ISP because of all the junk sex related mail I received but I decided to try Instant Messenger because I had a couple of friends that used it.
Well first thing I noticed is that as an Instant Messenger only user no ones profiles from AOL would come up so when friends would tell me they added new information to their profiles I would not be able to view the changes - this is annoying. You can see profiles of people who only have Instant Messenger but not AOL.
Also I started getting a lot of sex related instant messages - now don’t tell me it’s because I put female in my profile because I never filled out my profile. So even though I don’t have AOL I still get this junk.
It is a good program if you know a lot of people with AOL and want an easy way to communicate with them but if your looking to meet new people, I would recommend ICQ or Yahoo Messenger because it is easier to find people with that.
As you can guess I have removed this from my computer now and only use ICQ and Yahoo.
