Aparichit (dubbed in Hindi)
(Disclaimer - article is written by a Delhite who knows nothing about south films)
Why I saw this movie…I went to see the Da Vinci Code…but it wasn’t released that day…alternatively…this came by fluke.
Now my advice: Do anything…just anything but DOO see it. This is easily one of the best movies which I have witnessed during my 20 year long film-watching-career.
A bit about the background of the movie - This movie is a south-Indian piece. The director of the movie is one…Shankar (for those of you who don’t know who he is…he is the director of Anil Kapoor starred Nayak)…and is a bond. The film had already grossed a good 100 crore in the south (may be that’s why the producers deceided to give it a shot in Hindi too).
Story is damn unique. The best thing in the movie is the acting of Vikram (must be a huge star in South)…he plays 3 characters in the movie…1) Rambi (a oil-filled-hair loser lover and the moooost honest guy on this shhit e earth), Remo (flamboyant model cum singer) and Aparichit (man who gives punishment to guys who don’t perform their activities properly or guys who cheat…somebody like govt. clerks or our bribe-demanding policemen).
A short snap of the story – Rambi apart from being a loser lover, he is also a loser lawyer. He sees that the people aren’t just behaving humanly (e.g. a man meets an accident but another man denies to take him to hospital in his new car and many more heart-crying incidents which are true in today’s India). Witnessing to these incidents, Rambi another avtaar (somewhat like multi-personality disorder), Aparichit appears and gives them punishment in the world’s most UNIQUEst style you can think off (when I mean unique I REALLY MEAN it…you can’t imagine the ways by which he kills his enemies). Rambi also loves a girl named Nadini (the actress of the movie). She assets that he is a big loser and forwardly, another avtaar appears…Remo.
Rest of the story is how Rambi gets the girl, how he cures the multiple personality disorder, etc…etc and I won’t reveal it.
The movie is very long (about 3 1/2 hrs) but you will never feel bored (except during songs). Throughout the movie you will be getting that South-Indian touch of the picturization.
Why should you see the movie…
1) Storyline…unique.
2) The man who played the 3 roles - VIKRAM…an extremely talented actor. Its actually ironical that guys like him can’t gain fame irrespective of their hard work and talent.
3) The first song of the movie…shot in flower lands of Amsterdam…I don’t know the actress’ name but I bet her simplistic-beauty could beat Ashwariya Rai’s local fame anywhere in the world…just look her out in this song.
(A caution – JUST IGNORE all other songs or else you will need some mental help, though you can keep out Yana Gupta’s item song from this caution).
4) Action scenes…a couple of them are…standing on one leg Aparichit transform his body into a ‘T’ shaped figure using one leg and two hands hence kicking off 3 guys…another one…in the fight against a Chinese martial arts master, both Aparichit and the master’s legs lock into one-another while attempting flying kicks in air (its better than Matrix).
After seeing the movie, you will be getting a touchy feeling inside you about your honesty. How easily we criticize the govt. but what about us?
It’s a pity that even the flops in Bollywood get noticed but masterpieces like these go unsound here in Northern part of our country.
Our mood after the picture was very filmy type. Hence we deceided to see another movie released on that day…Tom Dick Harry (and the mood after TDH - you have to encounter bad times after good times). What happens after you eat the favourite dish and then unknowingly drink karela juice…that was our feeling…vomiting.
