I am having 800SQ Inverter since last 1.5 Years. Due to some reason, my battery stopped working and APC promised me to replace the battery.
Spec of my battery: 12V 120 AH. Model: Prestolite 12000
APC service team came with a 12V 100AH battery and replaced. When I asked the reason for replacing with lower spec battery, the service engineer explained, whatever is available in the warehouse, they will come and replace. No concept of lower spec or higher spec.
I had to call to the customer service for an explanation. Surprisingly, I have got the same answer and they even said there is no difference between 100 AH and 120 AH and Its APCs practice to replace with 100 AH only even if you have 120 AH or 135 AH battery. Quite Surprising!
I had to talk to their seniors to get more understanding on this horrible practice. I had to tell them a analogy on the difference between Maruti 800 and Zen. With that analogy, I finally managed to convince them to replace with 120 AH Battery.
I had to do digging for the following calculation on Back-up power:
Number of Backup Hours= Voltage * AH / Full load
800 SQ with 12V 120 AH Battery= 12 * 120 / 500(Full load)= 2.88( 2Hrs 53 Minutes)
800 SQ with 12V 100 AH Battery= 12* 100 / 500(Full load)= 2.40( 2Hrs 24 Minutes)
I hope its not the case with many of you. If yes, please call them and replace!
I did not expect such practice from APC which carries such a great brand name.
