Watching The DVD In The Bedroom! NO KIDS!!!

My husband’s parents sent us money for this Christmas Holiday and we took that money and bought us a DVD player for our bedroom. I like to watch TV in our room because I can hibernate in my room while doing so. NO KIDS!!! And sometimes NO HUSBAND!!! And this makes me happy. And if I’m happy the rest of the household is happy.

Besides watching TV in my room helps me to not to ground my kids because I don’t have to hear the “I want to watch this” or “I want to watch that” or “move your feet off me” or “Mama…so and so is hitting me.” Yep hibernation into my room is really good! Quiet, peaceful and just nice.

And sometimes I like to watch movies while in hibernation and with today’s technology I had to move up in the world a bit. Oh I still have the VCR because I have a lot of movies that I watch and I record my soaps daily as well as my Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night line ups and my Sunday show as well.

So the DVD was just an addition to the hibernation process that I go through. In fact I have made sure that there is a TV and VCR in each bedroom and of course the living room/family room. And yes we do watch TV as a family, but since we all have different likes, sometimes we all hibernate to our rooms to watch what we want to watch!

I remember as a child I had to watch what my father watched, which was sports and news! I vowed as a child that I would never do that to my children, hence the above!

Now on with the new toy I now have.

The Product

Apex™ DVD Player with remote control; model number AD-1110W, is a slim DVD Player that is silver in color and sits nicely on top of my VCR. It is Apex’s™ smallest unit in their DVD’s.

Size: 10.25’’ x 2.1’’ x 9.75’’

Weight: 6lbs.

The unit is not bulky like some of the other ones available. And it looks really nice.

Features

Inside the manual as well on the box that the DVD Player come in, you will find all that the unit will do, however I will list them here for you:

The Apex™ AD-1110W plays DVD, MP3, SVCD, CD, CD/R and CD/RW. It is Kodak Picture CD Compatible as well as JPEG Compatible. Dolby Prolific/Dolby Digital/DTS/PCM ready.

There is an S-Video Output, a Composite Video (RCA) outputs, Multiple Angle, Multiple Language Subtitles (with Captions), Parental Lock, Frame by Frame Advance and Zoom (2x, 4x).

On the DVD player you can open/close the disc player, play and stop the movie and of course turn the unit on/off.

The Remote Control

You control your DVD Player with the remote control unit.

The remote control is flat then rises up where you would hold it in your hand. This allows the unit to sit comfortably in the palm of your hand. It is light gray with dark gray buttons on it. You will also find what looks like a keypad with each button clearly marked with what feature that button will do, this keypad is in the middle of the remote.

You will find a number pad on the top of the remote (1-10) and a “red” power button on the top left corner. You open your DVD from the remote with the button found on the top right hand corner.

Some of the things you can do are: You can play back a disc, locate a specific title/chapter/track, play repeatedly, play in random order, zoom a picture on DVD, select camera angles/language/audio settings, play in your favorite order, select subtitles, and so much more. You will need to refer to your manual for instructions on each feature and on how to use them. (There is too much information to put into a review, we would be here all night!)

The remote control takes 2 double A batteries that are included.

The price at my local Wal Mart was $58.87

How I Feel

Since it is very important for me to hibernate as much as possible and since I got my new DVD player by Apex™, I am a happy hibernator! The picture quality is great! The sound is great! The use is simple and easy to do.

Now I admit that I don’t know much about MP3’s or conversion of JPEG files and Kodak pictures and I admit that I most likely will never use them, but at least I have a DVD player that will allow me to do so or my kids for that matter. (Of course they have to pass hibernation inspections before doing so. But once they pass inspection they can use the DVD player for all of these wonderful uses.)

I love the small remote control and the ability to do everything from it. It even has a volume control on it! And I also like being able to skip parts of a movie either by using a fast-forward like with a VCR or skipping entire scenes. That’s really cool!

I also like the pause feature on the remote because this allows me to pause a movie, switch to the TV or VCR if I want to and later go back to the movie in the DVD player and its still on pause right where I left it.

I strongly suggest reading the manual that comes with it because it explains all the different features and how to use them. Thus one day I may decide to use this unit more.

This DVD makes a great gift not just for Christmas but also for all Holidays or Birthdays.

Well I am going back to hibernation now with my coffee and movie!

I hope that this has helped in some kind of way.

God Bless!
