Prakash Jha at his best

Well I was waiting for the dvd release to see this movie. In spite of all those critical reviews which said the second half was over-dramatic I thought the movie was very well made and maybe open some eyes about the kind of politics in Bihar and UP. As usual I do not like to discuss the plot to much, suffice to say that Ajay Devgan is a nice guy who is forced by circumstances to get into the kidnapping business. Nana Patekar, the other attraction in the movie, is a corrupt MLA who at times, gives speeches that sounds like Lalu Yadav. Overall the dialogues and screenplay is excellent, and the language has a very good Bihari flavor. Often while watching the movie I felt I was just watching Aaj Tak news with some extra details. The dirty corruption of misuse of government money, misuse of jail as safe heaven for gangsters, the kidnapping business to extort money, all these aspects of dirty Bihar politics is very vividly knotted into the main plot.

Sure there is no society without corruption, but it is the level of corruption in Bihar which is scary. They should have rated this movie as a horror movie. A Political Horror! It is like a jungle out there. Watch this movie if you like or hate politics too much. Watch this movie if you care about how the country is raped by politicians. Also watch this movie like a textbook if you are a budding politician (sarcasm intended!).
