Good service...kind staff but bad consultation...

I finally decided (after about 6 yrs of this policy in place) to utilize the annual health check up provided by my employer. I chose Apollo Clinic Koramangala as we had a tie up with them for Executive Health Checks at a good price and also had heard from my other colleagues about the service they provide.

I must say that the service they provided on the day of all the tests was very good right from my blood check, TMT, Xray etc etc... But very sorry to say that the consultations with different doctors was not such a good experience.

I guess the Ophthalmologist had just been called to see us (me and my colleague), he had a very casual attitude, was more interested in which company we are working than providing any other details.

The Dental screening was OK... he didn’t know the price of the procedures like filling or scaling if I had to take it there...(i believe he was a new doctor in the clinic). I was told to check at the reception for the costing and then the reception guy says check with the doctor...I finally decided not to get it done.

The Gynaec was good, did a Pap Smear test but unfortunately was not available to interpret my report when I went collect the reports after 2 days. When enquired that can I meet the other gynaec, they refused saying that the person who did the test only should be met and no body else...:-(

Then comes the General Physician - he just flipped thru my reports and said everything was ok but just need to reduce my weight a little bit with a comment that..."overweight/obesity comes only because we have lots of comforts in life" who the hell is he to comment like that... I understand that physical activity has reduced coz of lot of changes in our lifestyle but there is a nicer and better way for things to be told and that too by a doctor.

Finally I get to meet the Dietician - ok again...i couldn’t understand/hear half of the things she told me because of her accent and low volume.

Overall, I feel that one should go for a health check on his own, pay from his own pocket and get the right advice/consultation coz when doctors get to know that its a corporate check up, their attitude becomes more casual and we as individuals don’t get the right advice.
