It was in the month of June 1st week my mom was admitted to this hospital. she was a patient of chronic kidney disease. She got her first dialysis done in the month of may through throat. But the channel some how came out. She didnt had dialysis for about 13 days.then we admitted her to Apollo. A fresh channel had to be made. this was done in her thigh. But when the technician started preparation for dialysis he couldnt get the blood flow. Oh my God she was in so pain they twisted the channel left right she kept shouting but they never listened. Just imagined what pain she suffered. They never listened to me instead scolded me.this failure was totally their fault. they must have checked what they had done.
They then made a channel in her throat. they also made a passage for giving antibiotics on the other side of the throat. Next what happened was horrifying. We came to know her haemoglobin dropped from 8 to 4.How? Internal bleeding. What caused internal bleeding? No answer. But we know what happened. The technician had given higher doses of Heparin. She started shouting the whole day whole night. We were frightened to go near her.We just let her bear the pain we had no option. The RMO never gave us good feedback slowly slowly she stopped responding. Doctor said she had some infection and that not having dialysis done for such a long period has affected her brain. She stopped responding in spite of giving medicines to control the seizure.
Neurologist said the only thing that can be done is to give her higher doses but it would have a adverse effect on kidneys and then she will have to be on ventilator and that there are risks associated like infections with ventilators. what to do/ finally we took her out of the hospital after 11 days and got her admitted to another hospital. But it was already too late. She left us on 21st June.Who is responsible for this? we? or the so called expert genius doctors who dont know the sequences of procedures. The day her hemoglobin fell to 4, it took the hospital staff full 3 hours to arrange for two units of blood. That too happened when we started chasing them literally. So many test done everyday tortured her . She was anemic but they had to puncture the needle. They never told us the patient condition we had to inquire about it.
That too after waiting for so long all day.In the discharge certificate they mentioned that they had given only four doses of the drug for infection but in the itemized bill it showed that they had given for all the 11 days. This is just a couple of things that we have found out. I know they must have done other wrongs too. Moreover she was not attended on the first day as she reached in the evening and second day also nothing was done has the thigh channel was not working. So for two days she wasnt given the attention that was so very much required.
I dont know what to say but yes they dont take patient seriously . Please think before considering Apollo as an option. I guess things might have been different if we had admitted her to some other hospital probably out of kolkata.
