FOR ORDINARY FEVER (I am a healthy, normal person) who was forced by my wife to visit Apollo as it was near our house:
Cheat strategy: General practitioner (Doctor) analyse patient where I work and makes an educated guess about my social status. Prescribe a different tablet CALPAL (same paracetamol) along with expensive VITAMIN tablets , Rs.. to 20 per tablet. Suggest blood test to be done as he suspects SOMETHING. Blood test charge Rs. .650/-. Doctor consultation fee: 200/-.
Cheat Strategy: Blood report normal: . Take the report and the doctor says he is busy and cannot see me today. Asks to see another General practitioner inside the same Apollo hospital. Again fees :200/-. Second doctor says its just normal viral fever. PATIENT DISCHARGED.So, for a normal fever, where a general practitioner has to use his experience and knowledge of ailments prevalent in that locality, he uses blood tests and tactfully changes the doctor so that both charge Rs. 200/- per consultation.End result: For FEVER, I ended up paying Rs.1000/- for tests and got the satisfaction that I dont have typhoid, H1N1 and other deadly diseases.
Also, for injections, you are prescribed medicine and syringe which you have to purchase in Apollo pharmacy and wait in queue for the nurse to administer it. Pay Rs.20/- extra for such service. What a personalised service ????. In future such doctors might charge for uttering every word including saying YES or NO. Since I am not a doctor, I feel that If you are moderately healthy ( not a regular patient who has multiple complications), PLEASE AVOID APOLLO HOSPITALS. Pls visit a government doctor and pay them more and get royal treatment.
