I had the honor of visiting Apollo Hospital last weekend, and would like to share with you the learning I received. I will dispense my advice now - If you fall sick on a Saturday and faint, be sure to call Apollo. You will get an appointment - for the very next day - the staff is very efficient. When you get there the next day, dying and dehydrated, you’ll realize that there is no Doctor around!
Fact 1: Vitamin D is good for healthNow before you start getting angry, we must remind you of the fact that Anger isn’t good for your health - Vitamin D is. Understand that this was a ploy by the Hospital to make sure you get enough sun - for your own good. Vitamin D works better when the temperature’s soaring.
Fact 2: Be nice to People on their way Up (Pun Intended)The receptionist will talk to you very patiently. She will graciously point to the Doctor’s room even if there’s no Doctor in sight. The rest of the staff is good at giving directions too - They can almost always tell you where you’re going (the answer is usually - "Up").
Fact 3: Eating right is Important!Want to eat - try the sandwiches at the in-house cafe(?) - it’ll help evacuate your bowels in no time.
Fact 4: Exercise is good for healthWell, why have elevators when we’ve got legs - climb up and down the stairs twice a day and voila! You’re healthy as a rat! And talking of rats, please don’t step on them!Fact 5: The Doc’s always rightIf the Doc says you’re constipated, you ARE. No questions asked, or answers entertained. When the Doc tells you you need to get another test done or should visit another doctor in XYZ deptt, do it! Never say no to your Doctor.
Fact 6: Paint contains whachumaycallit - and that’s bad for OzoneWhich is why the walls haven’t been painted since the revolt of 1857. We care for mother nature, and will do nothing to upset her, even if it means not mopping the floor immediately after someone throws up.
Fact 7: Retaining Customers is a Skill...... That I have never seen in any other place so far. All their customers have been there for a long time - like the Eagles would put it - "You can check out any time you like.. but you can never leave"!See how incredibly amazing their philosophy is? And if you don’t believe said laughter is the best medicine, ask for some Ice-cream at their canteen - and listen to the guy say - "Ice Cream thanda nahin hai".
