Yesterday, I took my 2.5 years daughter to Apollo, Noida on the recommendation of Dr. Arvind Garg- the famous pediatrician in Noida for some tests. I was being told that it is the best hospital as far as blood tests of children is concerned since there is a pediatrician who takes the blood from children.
Soon, my impression of Apollo being the best was shattered when I saw the incompetent, ill- informed, irresponsible, unprofessional and money minded staff including the lady pediatrician who came to take the blood sample.
First of all, the blood test - "Elisa" for detecting TB which they try to do on my daughter, has already been banned in India. Surprisingly, the seemingly qualified staff in emergency section and lady pediatrician went ahead with taking the sample. They took two voile of sample from my baby and confirmed that everything is ok with the sample and we may leave.
After having left the hospital, we were called and informed that they need to take the sample again since the quantity of blood drawn was inadequate for the test. We very quite surprised at this. We went back and checked with the staff. They started giving different excuses and when we started shouting the pediatrician gave in and revealed sheepishly that they do not have the required kit and the sample bottles they had used earlier cannot be used for tests, therefore, they need to draw the blood again. Absolutely Obnoxious! How can they treat young children as guinea pigs and experiment on them like this. The myth was busted and soon we realized, that we are amidst the most unprofessional medical staff, risking the health of our daughter.
On the top of it, the chief medical officer- Mr. Sujith is icing on the cake. He kept sitting quietly with a subtle smile, trying the avoid the altercation and when we asked to call some senior from the hospital then we came to know that he is the one who should have tried to resolve the matter. He did not even feel the need to apologies for the blunder that the staff did.
After much wait and shouting, we got the refund for the test(please remember this particular test has been banned in India still tried to do the same on my child). We are much aggrieved when the pain and suffering that my daughter has to undergo because of such irresponsible staff and doctors.
Please it is a sincere request not to risk the life of your children in the hands of such irresponsible staff and doctors.
