Recently availed services of a company named Apollo Packers & Movers(Based out of Delhi, Askoh Vihar).Thought it to be a genuine company.There was a guy named who claimed himself to be some Manjeet. We shifted goods from Delhi to Kolkata.
He visited us and gave us a quotation of 11500 looking at the stuff. He also said payment has to be made once the goods reach. Invoice details would be shared online. Other than 11500 there would be a service charge of approx 12% on the bill value to which we had agreed.
Third day after the goods were moved we got an online invoice which stated an amount of 21000. The bill had various headers like:
Initial quoted amount - 11500
Other charges - 1000
Octroi- 4000
Insurance amount - 2000
Total 18500, and on this a service charge was levied at 12% hence making the bill amount approx 21000.
We were extremely surprised at the bill amount so we called him up asking for clarification.He had no clarification for anything but just kept asking for the money and also threatened to throw away the stuff if we didn’t make the payment.
By the way guys there is no octroi on household goods for any state other than MUmbai and when asked by a C.A, he said; quoting in this language( Bhai Shahab chalo aap 3000 hazar kaam de dena).
That’s how the bill amount came down to 18000 and that too verbally. We were never informed about the insurance either and nor did we get a revised invoice.After lot of discussion we agreed to pay 16000 before delivery and balance 2000 post delivery.
After lot of hassle we did receive the goods and that too at midnight without being informed about.We got all our stuff but all the heavy electronic items were damaged badly and when this guy Manjeet was contacted he just disconnected the call. He stopped receiving calls once the payment of 16000 was done.
Extremely frustrated at the whole thing and the worst part is that you cant do anything about it.What I could make out of the whole thing is that this guy is using the name Apollo Packers and Movers and cheating innocent People. He changes his name every now and then.
So guys just want to warn you incase you plan to avail any such service pls do a cross check online and also with friends and family to avoid such situations. Have learned my share of the lesson. A message to the company incase you guys are gonna read this. Your reputation is screwed up badly in the market. Incase this guy happens to be a part of your organization you should consider throwing him out or start working ethically if you yourselves are genuine or if he is using your name to do business you better take some legal action and stop this pathetic thing right away or this whole thing is going go get very ugly some day.
Warning to all the future dear customers- "BEWARE", and also a kind piece of advice, pls avail services of Agarwal Packers and Movers. These guys are really genuine and they are a structured company.
