Using youth metaphors is not some thing that I normally do, however in this case there could not be a better description of the movie viewing at ESquare University road Pune than #ESquaresucks . I have been watching movies there for the past 5 years more out of compulsion than pleasure since it is the closest to my place. However the quality of 3D movies is really awful. The glasses given for almost EVERY 3D movie were dirty and in spite of cleaning and wearing them, we could not get a proper 3D effect. To add to the misery, the screen would be so dim through the glasses that during night scenes we ended up only listening to the dialog since the screen would be black. Most of the time we, as a family, let it go, since (a) we thought it was happening only to us and (b) no one at ESquare listened to what we had to say.
However a recent show The Life of Pi really took the S**t cake. The 3D was so bad that almost every one in the Audience developed a headache. By the interval we were really fed-up and a few brave ones complained to the management. However when there response gave us no relief we all finally got up en-mass, walked out and demanded our money back else we would call the newspapers . It was only then that the management relented and paid us back our money.
So the bottom line, if it is a 3D movie you wish to see - see it elsewhere.
Epilogue: Just to check out if this 3D issue was the same with all cinemas, we decided to travel all the way across town to watch Hotel Transylvania in 3D at a cinema on Nagar Road (I shall not name it as we do not want to be told that we are favoring or advertising for it). Boy! It was such a pleasure, the 3D was perfect and the screen was bright enough to watch. We really enjoyed that experience. Our resolve now? Henceforth, NEVER to go to ESquare again, for a 3D movie.
