I never thought, I’d say this but there’s life before an iPhone and there’s life after an IPhone.
Your existence can thus be split in to 2 distinct halves.
I used to think APPLE is just about style, overpriced gadgetry and passing fads for psuedo-artisitc teenagers, but I stand corrected.
Push-Email : Aggregates all your Email accounts in one place, on your phone. Stay on top with up to the minute updates.
One may ask whats the big deal about Push-Email ? Well ... what’s the big deal about tap-water anyways? Ask a rural villager who fetched water from the river a mile away, until recently before getting a water-line connection. For her, now water comes home, on-tap, on-demand, at the twist of a knob.
A full gush of fresh sparkling nourishment. Push-Email is no different. Internet Radio : Free App Pandora lets you create custom Radio stations based on just one word. For example enter ’Geeta Dutt’ and your iphone will begin playing hi-quality songs sung by Geeta Dutt and her uncle 24/7 non-stop. The tiny speakerphones on an iPhone can fill a room with decent sound. Amazing engineering.
A single App like this can make iPhone a paisaa-vasool concept.
Shoutcast App lets you tune-in to some very cool Vintage Hindi Radio stations like Apna-Radio...it’s like Vividh-bharti playing on your pocket-radio wherever you go.
Books on the Go: It’s like having a mini-Kindle. Apps like Stanza will instantly put the world’s greatest literature on your bookshelf, even comics like Amar Chitra Katha
Intuitive navigation: Use one or two fingers the way God intended you to flick, push, pull, extend, stretch, compress, tap, swirl, rotate, edit, switch and throw-away content on your iPhone .
Suddenly, using a mouse begins to feel so stupid and medieval... like a clunky excercise apparatus designed to improve hand-eye and mootr-skills co-ordination. completely Vestigial !
APPS: Infinite Apps, many of them FREE...it’s like there’s one for your every whim and fancy.
There’s actually a free App (called AppMiner) to find great free Apps ! Talk about recursion !
A lot of the apps are actually very practical. For example, IHandyLevel lets you check if a surface is perfectly level.
Sonar lets you find the distance between you and a wall.
Plenty of GTD productivity apps too.
Full featured browser : Safari is awesome, especially on a 3G network. Internet on the go, wherever you are. The world in your pocket.
If you have an iPhone for a few weeks, it’s impossible to imagine life without it. It becomes like an online fully-connected extension of your very being.
The dependency can become so great that APPLE can potentially enslave humanity, if they were so inclined.
More later....
