The iPhone 6 Plus is too big for everyone to love

The iPhone 6 Plus, from Apple, was unveiled at an Apple press event in Cupertino, California on September 9th, 2014.

The phone runs on the iOS operating system, which is the second most popular behind Android.

Camera Rating: B+

The iPhone 6 Plus has a 8 megapixel rear(primary) camera, which will produce high quality photos. Its 1.2 megapixel front camera makes it a below average phone for taking selfies. It can capture 1080p high definition video with its primary camera, which is second only to 4K in terms of recording quality.

The Apple iPhone 6 Plus camera lens aperture maxes out at f/2.2 which is standard for smartphone cameras. While lens aperture size shouldn’t be a deciding factor when choosing a phone, some camera fanatics might prefer a larger one.

Optical image stabilization means that this smartphone’s camera is particularly good at taking videos and images even if the camera isn’t perfectly still. It will actually offset slight movements of the camera lens to capture smooth images.

Display Rating: A+

The iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch display, placing it on the larger end of phones released in 2014. Because its screen is over 5.3 inches, this phone also qualifies as a phablet. This also means that for most users, the phone will be difficult to use with one hand when compared to phones with smaller screens.

The screen has a resolution of 1, 920 pixels by 1, 080 pixels, making it a 1080p HD screen. Display sharpness can be measured in the density of pixels per square inch of screen, and at 401 PPI, it’s 1.7 times sharper than the average phone released in 2014.

Battery Rating: A+

The iPhone 6 Plus has an advertised talk time of 24 hours, significantly longer than 8 hours, the average of phones also released in 2014. In terms of battery capacity, which is the actual electric charge the battery holds, this phone can hold 2, 915 mAh, a massive battery capacity for a smartphone released in 2014.

Sleek Form Factor with a Very Heavy Body

The phone’s aluminum body is 158.10 mm high, 77.80 mm wide, and has a depth of 7.10 mm, 24% thinner than an average smartphone released in 2014. In fact, it’s thin enough to have a case and still be thinner than an average phone.

With a weight of 172 grams, it’s much heavier than most smartphones its size. The phone has a large battery for its size, which weighs it down.

Performance Rating: A-

The iPhone 6 Plus houses a dual core Apple A8 system on a chip. Its CPU runs at 1.4 GHz, which is a bit higher than average for a phone’s CPU.

With 1 GB of RAM, the iPhone 6 Plus has average RAM for a smartphone from 2014.

Putting specs into real application, benchmarks help provide an even playing field for comparison. The Apple iPhone 6 Plus performed very well during the benchmark tests. For example, the Geekbench Single Core average score is 426.

Acceptable Storage Size

The base model of the iPhone 6 Plus has 16 GB of internal storage, which is a modest amount when compared to other smartphones released in 2014. If that’s not enough, you can purchase one of the larger size options as well.
