Competitors like LG and HT C ship much higher quality headphones with their flagship phones, and Apple owns Beats, so it’s just really hard to understand why it’s still shipping such decidedly mediocre headphones with the iPhone. Especially when the company is trying to get everyone to be enthusiastic about the move away from 3.5mm More importantly, it’s disappointing that Apple didn’t put more work into making wireless audio a better overall experience on the iPhone 7. The company’s own new W1 headphones get the fancy new pairing support, but other Bluetooth headphones and speakers still use the same somewhat flaky Bluetooth setup interface as before. And Air Play feels all but abandoned; it was already getting less and less competitive over time, and the iPhone 7 and don’t seem to offer any noticeable improvements Even that is just scratching the surface of what can be done with two cameras on a phone with as much processing power as the iPhone 7 Plus, and I’m really hoping Apple allows third-party developers to tap into the system and experiment with possibilities like refocusing and perspective shifts.
