After a long long wait of almost over eight to nine months I finally decided to get an Apple iPhone 3G a couple of weeks back. Well, I took the decision but in the process I must have cursed Bharti & Vodafone atleast a 1000 times as because of their monopoly policy we are paying almost 10-12k more for the same iPhone (without any offers) as compared to other countries..
Nevertheless I first got an older version iPhone from my cousin who was using it since past eight months and me being a pure Sony Ericsson fan was stuck to my P1i which I still feel is the best value for money smartphone available in the Indian Market. But to say the least I got addicted to Mr.Steve Jobs & teams wonderful creation in a few days, there was so much to do in this small gadget which ultimately forced me to pay Bharti a good 31, 000 bucks to get the 3G version of the fone (another pity... no signs of affordable 3G in our country soon:) ). I also tried out HTC touch Diamond and Samsungs Omnia before actually purchasing this one but none of these so called iPhone Killers actually come any closer in competition to this amazing device. None of them had the same touch control and screen resolution like an iPhone which made them too complicated to use.
Now coming to features; This is a power packed device which gives you an enhanced Web Browsing experience (both audio n Youtube, especially if you get a Wi-Fi somewhere), a crystal clear audio experience (thanks to Apple iPod), amazing videos with perfect resolution, addictive games and apps, Outlook Exchange as well a normal Gmail or a Y! account and what not... the list would go on long if I were to continue, yet the device is simple and easy to use to say for the least as you intuitively know what to do and how to within seconds of getting it in you hands... In fact you actually sometimes forget that this is a phone not a laptop or a pc. But like all good things this gadget has its limitations too.. no SMS forwarding, no Bluetooth sharing, no support for flash (which actually hampers the amazing web experience since most of the websites these days are flash oriented), but the most important limitation which I feel is there are very less settings that can be controlled by a user (dont worry.. there are utility tweaks available both freely and cheaply which see off these limitaions). Im sure Apple will also come out with some tweaks in the upcoming versions. Also the 3G has an improved loudspeaker and the battery too lasts longer than the previous version.
So, if anyone of you is getting confused before getting your dream iPhone and want to go on my words... Just Grab it... !
Just to share my views... got hold of a Nokia 5800 otherday... By the looks and feel itself it looked a cheap Made in China product... expected a lot more from Nokia, especially after so much of hype created prior to its release.. disappointed!! Lets c if Blackberry Storm can give iPhone a run for its money !!
Have a great iPhone experience !
1st Anniversary Update :) -- One year gone and I am enjoying my addiction full on.... Blackberry Storm too didnt come any closer to impress me against my iPhone. Also the 3.0 update from apple fixes many issues. Added addiction quotient is the GPS, youll never have to ask directions again... Atleast in metros.
2nd Anniversary Update :) -- Graduated to 3GS... :) jst had to get it.
