A ton of music in my pocket!!

Considering the popularity of the i-pod all over the world, I am surprised to see just a single review on MS.

Considering that Apple first came out with the ipod in  2001, I am a little late in jumping onto the bandwagon. The advantage of this is that the prices have now stabilized & it is a lot more affordable than a few years ago.

After being hooked to my room mate’s ipod, I finally procured one for myself a couple of months ago from the US. The Nano was launched by Apple in 2005. It is currently available in 2GB, 4GB & 8 GB versions. My ipod is a second generation 2 GB silver ipod Nano.

The first thing that strikes you about the piece is its sleekness. it is indeed a neat compact piece.Fire it up & u will notice the audio quality too..Now the Nano cannot be used to view video clips or movies...but hey, you cant get everything....It is still the perfect companion on boring bus journeys or even when preparing long documents at work (make sure your boss has no issues with ipod usage at work )..

The click wheel is an integral part of the Nano (it is not available on the Shuffle). Music & pod casts are transferred to it via the iTunes software. It is available as a free download from Apple. The Battery lasts for 14 hours after a full charge.

Let me just list out some of the Pros & cons of the ipod Nano

PROS:

1)Sleek Looks :** The ipod is indeed a very good looking piece. The silver Version looks classy & the Black is quite sexy!!

2)Easy navigation : There are no hassles in navigating around your ipod, even for new users

3)Enough Storage : The availability of 2GB, 4GB & 8GB versions ensures that you have enough music & podcasts so You’ll never get bored.

*CONS:

1) Lack of colour choices: **The 2GB ipod Nano comes only in silver which is a bit of a dampener.

2) It Is very Delicate : The piece looks & feels very delicate...You are always worried that something might damage your lovely ipod

3)Battery issues : although I have not experienced this, there is quite a controversy regarding battery failures on the ipod.

4) NO CD Or proper charger: The thing that irritated me was that there was NO CD with the iTunes software included in the pack. You are expected to download the same. similarly there is only a USB charger that comes along with the ipod.Earlier versions included a regular charger as well.

*My Wish:

*I really wish you could transfer songs from one Ipod to another (maybe via bluetooth technology). But I dont think this will ever be implemented since Apple is trying to prevent Music piracy.

All in all, the ipod maybe a little pricey, but there is no other Mp3 player like it!!
