This is my first ever review on web. Ill begin with my fav gizmo the IPOD.
Since childhood, I have been a music lover. My dad presented me with a Sony Walkman (Cassette player) when I was in schooling. That was my first mobile music machine. I bought a Sony MP3 player from the gray market when in college. And it sounded great. For the first time I had the choice to listen to something that I liked while on the go and choose from a wide number of songs that I can store in the 256MB storage space. I do travel a lot and will go out station twice in a month so I was in need of a quality MP3 player of much higher storage capacity. So after my college I bought a supercomp MP3 player which is of 1GB capacity(it costed me around 2, 400) but lacked the sound quality of Sony.
I always wanted something more... and the very look at an apple ipod gives soothing feeling to my eyes and ears(!!!). Finally I bought an Apple Ipod Nano 4 GB (3rd Gen model), at a discount price. I have decided against buying MotoRokr EM30 or Nokia music express and went for an IPOD. I knew that the ipod wouldnt let me down. It has cool look and feel, the interface is one of the best that you get in an MP3 player. You can listen to songs, watch your fav. videos, listen to audio books, play games, store and look at your photographs as well. Coming to the music menu the varied ways to sort songs based on playlists, artists, albums, etc is of much help when you want to listen to music of your choice depending on your mood.
The click wheel is a magic in the IPOD. Though bit confusing for novice users in the begining itll be like heaven once you get used to it. The video quality is the best here. You can load your favourite videos after converting them into MP4 format. There are a wide number of freely available converters on the web(just google ipod video converter). You can scroll through your photos as well while listening to songs.
You cannot use ipod like other MP3 players for loading songs and videos, you need to have itunes from apple to sync songs into an ipod. Once you get used to it syncing songs into an IPOD is like breeze.
The quality of sound from IPOD is excellent, and it provides you the best value for money. People say that IPOD earphones are of less quality and I agree to it for some extent because, I have tried several earphones and headphones and found ipod earphones are one good set for your ipod. Try sennheiser CX 300 or Creative EP 630 (comparable to Bose earphones) and you will be lost in a different world of music so soothing to ears and mind. Id recommend to use a screen protector for your IPODs screen.
I use ipod extensively for around 3-4 hours a day (including 20-30 mins of video), and it gives me a battery back up of almost 5 days. I use it during my travel and in GYM. Final word, its a best buy.
