Macbook pro for a student

I am Nitin doing engineering in biotech branch (IIIyr) from HCST Agra.I would like share my experience of buying this awesome machine called macbook pro.

As I was in second yr during which I felt the need of laptop for my studies and extra activities. I am a geek so researched the market very deeply. As I am with living three dear room mates and all of them are having different brand of laptops with the top ones like Sony Vaio, HP DV6 and Dell XPS. And guess what I used them all and found some pros and cons in all but most of them were cons. So I was so confused that which laptop I should buy.

Although Apple was my first choice (personally with macbook PRO over the macbook) but was not very sure about it performance regarding to its price. Believe me I WAS REALLY CONFUSED.

As my V sem ended which was very near to end of the 2010, my parents allow me to buy the laptop of my choice consisting a list containing apple, hp, vaio or dell brands name. That was tough time for me. I had to make a fast decision. the factors apposing the the decision to buy an apple laptop were;

My parents were feeling like I am buying apple to make a impression to my surrounding or I am mad. because none of my friend or relative have one of them so why I was going with an unique choice.

None of my friends or relative have one.

I will the one to buy this first so if any problem occur only I have to tackle it by my own.

Features were less as compare to other companies laptops (specs and configurations)- What if I got failed in the aspect of choice to buy apple macbook regarding to its performance also dealing with its price.

-It should survive between the other brand laptops with the aspects dealing with games, work, support, screen resolution, look etc-VALUE FOR MONEY was undefined as it is having low specification with higher price.

so I read a lot of reviews of macbook pro and most of them were positive. Which provide me some confidence towards my decision. But all of them were for the job or business persons but non of them from the point of view of a student. So I was feeling some kind of fear as it was a deal of Rs.70, 000 with low specification as comparable to other brand laptop. During all this I found a website named macrumors.com, its a great website it deals with the inside information of apple company and provide a buyer’s guide page which tells you when to buy your apple product and the updates in them. (made for apple’s fans like me)And hence I found that the macbook pro was going to update with higher processor and speed by end of Feb. So I waited eagerly to end of feb and finally the apple launched there new apple macbook pro with upgraded specification and decrease the price by Rs.2000.Hence it was the time. I was in the apple store with my parents (love you). As I having some idea of student discount provided by apple on all macs (mac : the computer series from apple) not on ipods :( So I ask them for it. And it was 6% off on all macs for a student.So the MRP of macbook pro 13" was Rs. 70000 which I get in Rs. 67000. And at last there was sealed pack macbook pro in front of me.

Feeling in side me; have I done right thing, what if it does not stands on my requirements, what if it does not survive between my roommates laptops which has higher configuration than this, etc

with all the above feeling I opened the packaging and guys I should mention that the packing was seriously awesome, there was no extra packing and it opened very easily. So I open the cover of the packing and a amazing feeling go through my body when my eyes saw one of most wonderful master piece in world of computer technology THE APPLE MAC BOOK PRO 13". It was a great feeling when I saw her (i m in love with my macbook so I used her ;) ) my heartbeats rates get doubled and the time was nearly steady. So I open the screen flap up and press the power button. A white screen came up with apple logo in center, which continue you to welcome screen. you fill up you name, id, address, phone no. and profile pic. After which you finally see your Desktop screen.And at that time I fall in love with my mac. It was indescribable and already started feeling that I made the right choice.Its now being a month since I brought my mac. And the love is still there which was present when saw each other first time...(LOL ;) now some serious talk: yes the apple macbook pro is great for the students like me. Some of the punch features which lead you to the decision to buy this machines and provide you answers that why you buy this as it is expensive as compare to the other brands which are with higher configuration and specs, are as follows:- Mac does not get infected at all. no need to buy a antivirus and manage it. In mac it all happens by itself- Mac OS X Snow leopard is far much better than windows as it provide a great interference, apps, security and not hanging problem. (forget the ctrl+alt+del)- Track pad is great as it binds you with the machine in a amazing manner that you could not feel better than this.-Backlight keyboard helps you to do work when your roommates are sleeping in light offs condition. so no more fight occur for the light issue.-The screen is not HD but is very near to it.-Battery back up is great as compare to other but I was hoping some more from apple it as current it is providing a backup of 5-6 hrs depending upon many condition like brightness, wifi, bluetooth, led back light, etc.-Great look specially the aluminum unibody which make it strong and light.-Battery charging mega safe port works great it automatically get disconnect from the laptop it anyone get engaged with the wire.-HD webcam is good.-Apps store is great-One of the special person to have an apple ;) in surrounding (ATTITUDE HUH..)
