British Airways - Student Connect

I was looking forward to go for a Summer School Programme during these vacations but was not able to zero in on many options available. Most importantly, I was looking for information at various portals but nothing seemed to really informative. But then I found some really informative stuff at British Airways student portal.

What is the first thing that strikes you when hear British Airways? It is definitely a premium airline service. Now with the aim of marketing their services in India they have ventured into a whole new avenue, as a part of their innovative marketing strategy and that is to connect with the youth. I just came across their Facebook page : https://facebook.com/BritishAirwaysIndia.

There are about 1, 60, 000 Indian students that go to various countries abroad every year for higher education. British Airways is making use of the most popular social connect medium, Facebook, to interact with these students.

The student connect page on Facebook provides a platform for students to interact with each other and discuss various topics related to higher education abroad. The discussions on the page revolve around topics related to top universities and colleges, courses offered, test preparations, application requirements and procedures, fees structure, scholarships and so on.

For the convenience of the students British Airways also provides information regarding accommodation and housing services, visa information and travel assistance, making this page ‘a one stop education abroad guide’.

I found the information on the page to be really helpful and I can say that these guys are doing a good job with going beyond ‘Selling Tickets’. I think portals like these can be really effective in building the ‘Brand Connect’ for students. We all know that the main objective is to build clientele’ but what we need to see here is the ‘approach’.

So guys and girls, I am going to LSE this summer and I got all my info from British Airways student portal on FB. If you are planning to study abroad, simply post a query and they would get  back to you in a couple of hours with the answer.
