Excellent little bike.

4 out of 5, reviewed on Mar 07, 2015

I bought this bike second hand with low kms and an Arrow exhaust fitted. It was/is mainly for my girlfriend to get back into riding but I can’t keep off the thing and I have been riding for 19 years! I love the looks of the bike, it is gorgeous and very well finished for a learner bike. It also has a feel of quality to it that the Asian small capacity bikes don’t have. It also manages to be very easy to ride and fun at the same time.

Its a shame that Aprilia have not produced a 250-400cc version of this bike for the Australian learner market as the very small 125cc capacity puts a lot of buyers in the market off this little gem of a bike. The motor does need to revved quite hard to get any acceleration happening but do you expect a 125cc motor to have low down torque?(there is a 166cc upgrade kit for these that adds 10hp and 1000rpm rev ceiling for around a grand) However its part of the fun for me to be able to give a bike a real spanking at legal road speeds as I often get frustrated riding my 1000cc sports bike around town.

The brakes work well and the clutch has a good feel to it. Suspension is quite firm. The seat hight is higher than other small capacity bikes I have ridden so might not be ideal for shorter beginner riders. Riding position is also quite sporty which I prefer over other’pretend’ sports learner bikes. It will sit on 100km/h with no drama but will top out at only 130km/h on a flat road.

I was considering buying the older 2 stroke model of this bike as it has more power but dealing with a a noisy, smelly, smoky 5 minute warm up before every ride put me off and Missus wouldn’t be up for that too.
