Panera Bread Company is a relatively new franchise in the US. It features a great
bakery and nice orginal sandwiches prepared on various kinds of home made breads,
wraps and the like. One can get a sandwich with chips and a drink at Panera,
made with fresh(not frozen or stored) ingredients, for the same price as a Subway
or Quiznos sub. Moreover, the sandwich is a meal. The atmosphere is cozy although
I did not see any tables for groups of five or more.
The food is good. Those who love original types of chocolate cakes, bagels, home-made soups and oodles of other goodies may find Panera Bread to be their choice.
There is no separate breakfast menu, although pick a croissant and one of many
coffee blends. This is a treat.
Panera targets older persons, middle-agers and tourists. There is a surprise.
I have written to Panera and not received a response yet.
Going there about 10 days ago with a nephew, his wife and two young boys, we
were SHOCKED to find no Kids Menu. Yes, there is a peanut butter and jelly.
This is not a kids meal or menu. INCREDIBLE. One can buy a kids meal at
Subway, MacDonalds and upscale places. Not at Panera Bread.
Also, one should speak loud when placing their order at the counter: Self-service.
Why? The item that I thought was ordered, did not reach the cashiers ears. I felt
the price paid was a bit less. The salad ordered was interpreted as a sandwich.
I dont see how inasmuch as there are no Asian chicken sandwiches, only salads.
I love the food. For families with kids, this is a bummer. And, make sure to
give the order taker your choices clearly. The food is made pretty quick so
hold your needed pit stop until after getting the stuff and taking it to your table
or before ordering. Most likely, as happened with me, while in the Pit, my name
was called four times to indicate the order was ready.
