Ariel Surf – generation gap

That’s the key difference between Surf and Ariel – Surf has been around for years where everyone’s mom used the blue detergent and of course identified with lalitaji – imagine at that time it was the most premium of detergent then and I still remember the advg – aadha kilo surf poore 1 kilo detergent ke barabar hai – well ha!! That’s because all other detergents were powder but Surf’s unique gol gol form trapped space between it and you thought you were getting more for less. – but they fooled ya!!

Then enters Ariel – a detergent that blew everyone’s expectations – the compact category that charged you a lot but promised you a helluva lot more. From cleaning stains to taking care of coloured clothes – what more could one hope for and wonders of wonders – no scrubbing – aila re – detergent badi mast mast hai.

Actually a consumer articulated this very well - A detergent that’s so easy to use that you can trust even a person who dosn’t know how to wash will wash well – i.e your husband . Surf of course tried to match up but in my opinion cannot match the product in quality

Here is where quality clearly shows – Ariel v/s Surf – you pay as much but there is a difference. But here is a secret. Whenever you wash your clothes ensure the following. You water rinse them before the detergent soak. Reason being – India is a country with high oxide air content – hence there is iron oxides in the air that get trapped in your clothes in the gaps. If you directly soak your clothes, the detergent applied is wasted – it attacks the iron in your clothes and then lies suspended in the water – the real dirt is not attacked and removed by the detergent – more than 50% of your detergent is wasted. So you must you pre-rinse before the detergent soak and check the difference – its huge!!!

Here’s how

Sort your clothes according to light and dark colours to ensure that they don’t run onto each other. Pile around 12-15 clothes in a bucket and let water cascade upon these clothes. The water requires to soak these clothes really well. Swirl the water a bit, leave it for 5 minutes and come back – you will notice that the water is slightly muddied.

Then empty the clothes into a fresh bucket of water with detergent soaked in it. If you do it this way you find that the difference in comparison between Ariel and Surf is 30% versus a previous improvement of probably just 10%. Whatever detergent you use ensure that you pre-rinse your clothes. You can see the effects especially when you are washing curtains and sofa covers!!

The only problem with compact detergents is that they are horrendously expensive but they are worth it – face it - the clothes you wear to office aren’t cheap and for them to last and not look worn out you need to use a detergent that matches the amount you paid for the clothes – so its worth the splurge especially when you see advanced technology in a field like detergents. Ariel compact is the compact new way to a hassle free wash life.!!
