Beign a books lover I went to my school library and picked up this great adventure book. I had heard about it from my friends and teachers.
I started reading it and soon caught up interest in it. the story starts with Fogg accepting Passepartout as his new servant and challenging the members of the Reform Club to voyage around the world in just 80 days. Fogg bets 20000 pounds. Fogg accepts the challenge and leaves soon with his servant.
Throughout the journey Fogg and Passepartout face many obstacles and difficulties which are really created by Fix, a London based detective who suspects Fogg for robbing a bank. it is in the climax part that he comes to know about the real robber but Fogg falls in danger.
Fogg travels throughout the world and makes us aquainted to the place he visits which according to me is the uniqueness of this book. In his adventure he is helped by many people. Fogg tries to utilise all the time by any possible way. He makes use of rails, steamers, roads and all the then available means of transport.
He meets Aouda, a parsi girl who is saved by Passepartout while she was performing Sati.
Fogg is on the line of completing his journey when Fix catches him and imprisons him. but the time is over and according to Fogg he is lost by 5 minutes.
But in reality he completes his journey one day before ie. within 79 days. he realises this when his friends come to check out whether Fogg has returned back or not.
According to me this adventure is the most impossible adventure during the British era some 100 years ago. the then available means of transport were very outdated in todays worldly sense. so this writer has put a challenge before the youths to accomplish this adventure with the available means of transport which are more advanced.
