Not bad

My 11 years old daughter is an ardent fan of Harry Potter. For last few weeks she was asking me for “Artemis Fowl”. Publicity of this book is very high and equated with Harry Potter, since I live in a small town my window to Shopping is through net. I tried to search the book with lot of key words in the Landmark site but it was blank at last I typed in Harry Potter in the search box and I found it there with other Rowling books.. I ordered and promptly got the delivery, Eoin Colfer is definitely a good writer with lucid style and very good story telling power, but this book is of totally different nature, Artemis is a criminal and plot is also like any other thriller, other than having Lepratunes, Goblins and fairies at the wrong end there is no difference with a modern common thriller, in fact put KGB, CIA, Bond as characters it would make no difference. I am not doubting the quality of the story it is very good and enjoyable, only thing I want to stress is it is not of same category as Rowling books. While Harry Potter story takes you to a different imaginary world this one is like any other good thriller , I highly recommend this book but for Harry’s fan it may not give what they are looking for.
