Arth is one of my all time favorites .... this story has lot of meaning and even though its a serious movie u wont get bored at all becoz of the superb performances by all the characters ....
Inder ( kulbhushan kharbhandar ) who makes ad’s has a devoted wife pooja ( shabana azmi ) and an extra marital affair with an actress kavita ( smita patel ) .... Pooja who is simple house wife does all her duties and just dreams of having a good house but is not aware of her husbands affair whereas Inder also loves his wife but seems to be more attracted ( more physically ) towards his mistress but finally goes ahead and plans to marry her ..
Pooja who is very self esteemed plans to live her own life but is befriended by raj kiran a singer by profession whom she meets at a party.. but here this singer wants to sing his way through pooja’s life who is not ready for any committments .... the ultimate result :- Pooja goes ahead with her life and adopts her servant’s daughter .... Inder repents leaving pooja and is living unhappily .... Kavita was never satisfied with anything in life in the entire movie ......
A few scenes really touch your heart specially when Pooja signs her divorce papers on her birthday and ofcourse the hummable ghazals by jagjit singh namely Tum itna jo muskura rahe ho .... Jhukhi Jhukhi si nazar ..... Tere khusboo mein base khat ..... and all picturised very well .... the movie really reflects reality and doesnt drag anywhere down the line ....
