I just finished a "moving" experience with these guys and since the main reason I chose the were reviews on this site [which are mostly fake, beware], thought of writing my experience while it is fresh.
Talked in Dec for the first time to a person called Prabhat who came across as very personable and he met me for an estimate for a Jan-end move. I was told that if I pay a little more, I will get a dedicated truck and it is best for safety of goods. I opted for that. Overall they charged 65k including car. I was told I can make some payment in advance and rest on delivery.
Guys came promised day and time for packing - 7 people overall. There was a supervisor as well. Halfway through, I saw my digital camera in one guys’ bag! Clearly a case of stealing. All began finger pointing at each other and things like - ye to kabhi hua nahin, ho kaise gaya. By the way, all were illiterate haryana labourers with no experience of packing and doing things like putting heavy inverter on top of expensive suits. I was worrying that there may be lot of pilfering but I was assured they will ensure goods reach safe and nothing else will happen from now on. Supervisor told me he will be going to Delhi with the truck personally.
Packing over, guy asked for advance of 20k. Asked in cash, I refused. Then said give bearer cheque, I refused. Then reluctantly took AC payee cheque.
I left same day to Noida. After followups, I was told truck will reach Noida on 5th around 12 PM. That day, Prabhat stopped picking my calls. I had no Delhi number. Luckily I had taken Bangalore supervisor’s number who told me truck had broken down in Manesar near their warehouse [how convenient!] and they were shifting goods to another truck. Delhi guys just plain stopped picking my calls. Finally waiting till 8PM that night, I was told delivery will happen in morning.
Next day morning, truck came - open to skies. God only knows whether they ever transported my goods in a dedicated truck. Most likely they didnt because many boxes were torn and thet couldnt have hapened in only one unloading. Also I fail to understand how shortest way to Noida from Bangalore passes from Gujarat and Jaipur.
When I took inventory -
Fridge compressor has conked off. Needs replacement. Cost 5k. Reason as per Godrej - not fastened properly in transport. Their response - how do we know it was working earlier?
4 expensive watches packed neatly in their own boxes - boxes are as neatly packed but watches are stolen. So is a bag with some 2kg loose change. Their response - aise to kabhi 5 saal mein hua nahin. Aap ache se check karo. The Bangalore guy had the gall to argue that its my fault.
Many boxes were unlaminated and open. Their response - kabhi jaldi jaldi mein lamination chhoot jaate hain. Packing tape kabhi khul jaata hai.
Washing maching control unit gone - cost Rs 2000. Reason as per IFB? Maching drum needs to be locked before transportation which obviously our "packers" didnt know.
They came with NO tools for assembling beds back. Put bolts by hand. I had to do all that myself
Dining table frame broken.
After unloading, they demanded full payment - even though car was not delivered. That too in cash with NO receipt books! I refused and they left threatening - ab car chahiye to Gurgaon mein aakar lena aur extra Rs 2000 dena. Bangalore people sorted it finally and they delivered the car and a receipt, but wanted all 45k balance in cash as they dont have "cheque facility" in Delhi. I was just so sick of dealing with these people that I was happy to be rid of them.
Lessons and summary?
They are no "packers and movers". Just transporters with a good marketing guy. Their idea of packing was to throw things in boxes and seal them with no labeling, marking and logical arrangement.
Goods were stolen - overall something like Rs 8k and damages of the same amount, none of which their insurance covered
Dedicated truck - forget it. Whatever you pay, you will get the same service.
I wont use them ever again - not because of damage, as that is to be expected to some extent. But 1) because of the fact that their people stole my goods. 2) They lied and cheated about quality of transport, delivery and payment.
