Many Many Happy Returns of the day!

What a great day to write a review on equally great Asha Bhosle, Its her 73rd birthday today!

I had not heard this particular album upto now , its a recent one , released in 2006 in memory of Asha Bhosle’s second husband RD Burman whom she loved dearly, son of legendary SD Burman who said "Asha , ise sambhal lena" :)after Asha Bhosle’s marriage to RD, more commonly known as Pancham.

The album starts with a prologue , inaugural note by Asha in a personalised way talking to her late husband about his likes of various kinds of music. She has carefully selected songs which he liked immensely, thatswhy the album’s name" Asha Reveals Real RD".

Songs selected are-

1.O Diwano dil sambhalo...

2.Aaj ki raat ...

  1. 1 2 Cha Cha Cha...

4.Karle pyar...

5.Muttukodi kavaadi haadaa...

6.Bhali bhali si ek surat...

7.Goyake chunanche...

8.Pyar Diwana hota hai....one of my favorite song..

9.Mera pyar shalimar....

10.Jane kya baat hai....this song haunts you for a long time..

11.Hum bewafa....another great song..

12.Ek bar jaane jana...

13.Chhodo sanam....

14.Sharabi aankhen....

15.Keh du tumhein...

16.Saamne yeh kaun aaya...

17.Ek Ladki to dekha to..

18.Dhanno ki aankhon mein...

19.Sona rupa...

20.Yeh naina yaad hai...

21.Dum maro dum and piya tu...

22.Maine dil abhi diya nahin...

All the songs are not original, but are sung again with some alterations here and there and background music as RD would have wanted , but was not able to do due to movie’s compulsions, but shared with his wife Asha how he would want it.

Some songs are sung by Asha Bhosle, but some songs are sung by Sudesh Bhosle of which some are duets. I am not sure why he was chosen, may be he sings so close to everyone that it ’s almost impossible to tell the difference...   Kudos to his exceptional talent!

Some songs of Asha Bhosle which I had never heard ...I got oppurtunity to listen to them..

Its nice experience listening to old songs in a new set of music, sung again by different artists and more importantly how it was conceptualised initially and lost somewhere, but rediscovered and now conserved in form of a music album...
