Change in heart

The earliest experience of being with a child admitted in hospital for a few weeks, even though long ago, was not too great, and though I did not think much about that when I went to AHI, now in retrospect I think I have got a change in heart about how a good hospital operate. I did not care too much to notice when I was in AHI, since it was tough being in hospital with an 8 month old kid with heart issues. Now when I look back I realise so much positive things about AHI.

The biggest strength I will say is people. I am sure hospitals can erect big buildings and latest equipments etc. but without staff attitude it will not be different from ICICI Bank (which has all the software/hardware probably but staff attitude is not good). So coming back I really liked the way I had been helped and accomodated. The Doctors and Nurses and Admin staff all maintain good congenial atmosphere. It is not that you are being pushed around here to there and nobody knows what is happening where. Contrary to that people always behaved nice and calm even when situation was adverse. KEEP IT UP.

I will congratulate AHI for initiating kids operations with the help of UK teams here in Mumbai since it was missing altogether in Mumbai, and wish success for its upcoming full fledged permament section for kids. Also AHI has earned a big name for being very economical and is not charging heavy rates just because people live in Mumbai.

Pros

Facilities worth noting:

Big main hall

No parking charges for admitted patients

Phone Charger in main hall

ICU night stay beds/linen

Cons:

Nurses trained for finding kids veins for adminsitring fluids

Lack of Internet facility (very usefull for sending/getting/printing medical reports via email)

Pantry is quite expensive

Area where people can bring&have their own food is not taken care of and is bit off the place from night security perspective (especially fro ladies).

ATM facility ( though I am not sure if it may be existing but it was not visible)

Should have some way to filter/stop sun light in main hall. In summer it is annoying and unbearable.

Should plan for bath-rooms for attendents while patients are in ICU for few days. (since people don’t have luxury of going back to their own places and come back and take a bath).

The Cons (except 1st one) however are minute if we consider the overall +ve aspects. I am sure management will iron these Cons in due course..

Wish All the Best.
