My Father in law is admitted to AHI. The appointment with Dr Ramakant Panda was at 11 PM but we got to see him only at 2 AM in the night due to Dr Pandas exigencies. The full estimate inclusive of everything for the CABG continuously increased.Although I asked for a non AC common ward, AHIRC has a tendency of admitting everyone directly into a ICU so that the Deluxe category rates can be charged from the patient. I have been charged nearly Rs ten lacs for the CABG. Angiography was delayed by a day due to a breakdown in the Angiography machine.
The estimated initial costs given for the bypass surgery initially was Rs 5, 80, 000 with a possibility of 20 percent escalation. The actual costs came to about Rs ten lacs. The hospital needs to get rid of mosquitoes that are omnipresent. Most of the nurses are trainees and from different states and are not able to effectively communicate in Marathi, Gujarati and Hindi and this becomes an issue in effective communication and treatment.
I lost my FIL within one week of release from the hospital after the CABG. If you can not afford it then Narayana Hrudayalaya of Dr DeviShetty at Bangalore may cost you one fourth of the costs at AHI based on the actual quote that I had received from that hospital for the same angiography report.
