We had been to this Hospital in Feb 2012 for my father in law who came from Assam to consult some specialists. We were told to come empty stomach early morning to the hospital. After spending the entire day and close to ten thousand rupees on various tests I am now narrating my experience here for the benefit of all others.
# You will realise that you are one of the thousands of people arriving there everyday and there is no chance of meeting any specialist unless you undergo all the possible tests in the world.
# At the reception when we requested to see a specialist, they told us that first you will have a pre-consultation. Depending on that diagnosis the next steps would be decided.
# My father-in-law had done all tests a couple of weeks ago and was carrying the reports so that we could consult any specialist. But they advised the same tests plus additional tests to us. When we questioned that why are we repeating the tests, the doctor replied that we are not repeating the tests, just cross checking. Finally, who can argue with the doctor.
# With the list of tests we went to make the payment and when enquired we were told it would take a couple of hours to complete the tests. In reality, it took us more than 10 hours.
# None of the staff gives any straight answers. They will tell you some round about story but not what you want to know.
# The rush is so much that you have to wait for your turn for every turn. Everyone is in the same boat. The whole purpose of the pre-screening is to recommend a battery of tests to run the factory called Asian Institute of Gastroenterology.
# After undergoing all the tests and collecting the reports in the evening, we again queued up for consultation. All the tests reports were normal, as they usually are. And the specialist was clueless, so he recommended a few more tests.
# All in all you will realize that in the name of diagnosis they will fleece you of a few thousand rupees and the whole setup is designed in such a way that whether you need it or not, and irrespective of whether you have already done the tests elsewhere, you have to re-do all the tests there.
# We did speak to a few other people there who were waiting just like us and found the same story for everyone.
