Recently after consultation the doctor prescribed medicines for 5 days. When I reached to buy medicine from the hospital pharmacy, they informed me that I will have to buy complete strip. They have even displayed this policy in store. Their reasoning that this helps in checking the sale of expired medicine makes little sense to me as nowadays most of the pharmacy stores in NCR have software to check the stock. After they refused to listen I dropped a feedback note and came back empty handed.
My questions are:
What will happen to patients where even one tablet costs hundreds of rupees. It may be illegal to give more than prescribed dose of certain medicines. Addicts buying sedatives will be more than happy in such scenario
I understand cutting strips is not possible at all times but making it a policy makes a little sense. After searching the net, it seems that this practice is followed by other branded pharmacy chains as well but in the end customer is at loss.
