Director & Cinematographer -- Santosh Sivan (the great)
I was never interested in writing the reviews, but I was just going through the reviews of Asoka on your site, I was totally disappointed, I thought the viewers should get to know the both sides of the coin. Generally speaking, everybody is saying Asoka is historically incorrect, but tell me who knows the actual story of Asoka. Asoka was discovered by Britishers only. In my view, and its a very personal view, this movie is excellent, simply mind blowing. Santosh had succeeded in creating, what he wanted to create. I don’t believe in giving upsides and downslides of a movie. A movie is good or bad. There are no grey areas as such. Santosh had excelled as a director, I don’t want to talk about Santosh as Cinematographer, because it will be an insult to a great man, man he is genius, when it comes to capturing visuals in the box. Music is nice but I think, and its my personal opinion, Rahman would have given full justice to the movie. Anu is nice but again the class is missing somewhere. Performance wise, Shahrukh is nice, Kareena is looking gorgeous, Rahul is impressive, but the performance wise the top honour goes to little boy who played the role of Prince Aryan.
A must watch for
1) who is not a history buff(better go to a history class yaar, why are you wasting your money and time)
2) who Appreciate good cinema
