I am an electronics and telecommunications graduate from this college, batch of 2013-17.
I came into this college, having high hopes because of the history behind this prestigious college. I must honestly say that I left it with mixed feelings but mostly with disappointment.
My department, Electronics and Telecommunications is very understaffed with only 4 permanent teachers and the few rest who are all contractual. Our subjects were taught with outdated syllabus and before exams, I mostly had to self study and take the aid of notes from seniors or youtube to actually prepare myself. Our laboratories were illequipped with old rusty monitors and other electronic equipments which mostly gave us faulty results. Our professors were not engaging enough to assist or motivate us to write articles, journals, apply for internships, projects. Basically to survive here it is down the students own hard work and will.
Placements are definitely better compared to other colleges in Guwahati other than IIT, Guwahati. But still not enough for all. We msotly end up with average paying IT jobs, and a lot of companies are slowly starting to avoid this college or recruit less and less.
If you want a good carefree college life and are prepared to work hard on your own, then you can definitelt join this college. You will make a lot memories in 4 years or more, that I will guarantee you.
But if you really want a good immersive technical college experience, especially for a department like Electronics and Telecommunications, I would suggest you avoid this college.
