Assam medical college is the first medical college of North East India. It is located on Dibrugarh, Assam. It was first established by a British doctor named Sir john berry white. The college was initially named after his death as berry white medical school in 1900. The college is better known as to have the first radiology department of India. The establishment of college also led to the foundation of allotrophic medicine in undivided Assam. It is also a 300 bedded superspeciality hospital operating around whole of upper Assam and also Arunachal Pradesh. The college has various departments such as social and preventive medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, gynaecology, nephrology, cardiovascular surgery and pediatrics.
