Astitva

I have been watching the serial Astitva for about a year now, and this is one of those few serials that captivate you right from the first episode. I always believed that I never had any patience to watch daily soaps, so even if I started watching a daily soap, I used to get bored within 4-5 weeks. But this serial has kept me hooked to itself for almost a year now. It just goes to show the maturity with which the producers, director and the story-writer have handled the subject, which I am sure would have been made into a depressing drama by anybody else, much like the ones being shown on Star Plus.

As of today, the story stands at a point where Simran is ready to marry her old flame Dr. Abhimanyu Joshi, while Manas’s wife has been jailed for a life-term. Meanwhile, Abhi is rediscovering himself away from the whole drama. At many points in the last few month, I felt that the serial is dragging itself, and the story making no sense at all. And there were other times when the story would come to a stand-still, like at the time of death of Anandi. But the good thing about this serial is that if this happens, the writer has always found a way to carry the story forward and keep the interest of the viewer with the original track of the serial. The logical end to the serial would be that Simran and Abhi should be reunited, but will that happen? That remains to be seen.
