Astitva- is anyone still watching it!

Hi, is anyone still watching astitva- ek prem kahani? I am moving to a new apartment complex where we are not allowed to put any dish on the property! so looks like I’ll have to cancel my dish network/zee tv/sony subscription pretty soon. Do you mind posting a very short summary on monthly basis (after august 15, 2004)?

thanks

arrgh! the ’’post’’ cannot be less than 150 words...so here’s some impressions...

  • dr. simran seems to think, cry and think and cry and cry a bit more.

  • the humor (if any can be traced) is mostly imposed

  • cant stand the pranay guy- doesnt look like a teacher- more absurd- no student can fall for him!

  • abhi’s character is interesting- but one big flaw was his ill-attempt at marriage even at second time around- his success with kiran in marital relation perhaps would have been more real and interesting, but I guess, would have taken away the ’’greatness’’ from simran, and would have made abhi-kiran look less at fault!

  • but for simran, no one can make life work! she has all the answers- and still she cries and mops and cries and mops...

  • abhi’s parents and sister were all very believable and well executed characters

  • the new abhi a.k.a. dr. joshi is too fat and sugary and moppy- if simran gets together with him they will have very very very moppy kids! eventually all will suffer from depression and end up at urmila’s new hospital, managed by rashmi and pranay!

  • maanas seems bored and totally indifferent to most things, still characterwise, its well-etched (though not as good as director ajay sinha’s other serial hasratein where he played KT and played it very well)

  • kavita was an irritating character and even the director seemed hard at getting rid of her- sending her to hubby’s place- moving them to another city for a very long time- bringing them back briefly- then sending her to switzerland to die! even the characters’ mourning her seem to do so out of obligation- given that all characters (including simran’s dad at one time- remember the classical dancer character!) had affairs, I wonder about her mom and kavita’s real dad! naah! not trying to get nasty, just that the kavita’s character was quite imposed. but now that its been killed, I hope it remains burried!

  • I wish I could find a baai like shaguna!
