Astitva-no prem kahani

Astitva is a wonderful, realistic, and sensitive show. I know it sounds cliched but its a great escape from the saas bahu crap. This show is very woman-oriented and deals with mainly feminine issues. I will not tell the story since im sure everyone knows about it by now.

I really like all the charactors a lot except for the boring, irritating, obnoxious dr. simran!!!!!! I know I know what you all are thinking that I may be contradicting myself here. But honestly, I have yet to meet a character who is ’’supposed’’ to be soooo powerful, strong, and dominating, but shows herself as weak, ill, and insecure.

All this woman does is complain, and MY GOD, when she talks I feel like pressing the mute button!!!! lol, she basically whispers her voice and makes it soooooo low and throat so cracky as if she is still suffering from some throat pain or laryngytis. Her favorite monologue is, ’’oh manas, I’m feeling vedy insecude.’’ (notice the change of spelling to match her accent)

Also I really can’t stand this new kiran. I know she’s been on this show for a while but she just does not come across bitchy, shrewd, and evil like the other lady. I guess thats because im so used to this girl always playing sugary, syrupy roles like in piya ka ghar and all that I just can’t picture her being ’’the other woman’’ who is soooo wicked. The other kiran, I loved to hate and she acted a lot better too. But I hear she left the show because she was getting film offers.

The title makes absolutely no sense whatsoever though. I think the producers were trying to copy film titles and twist some words such as: ’’astitva’’ adding it to ’’gadar ek prem katha’’ after taking out the word ’’gadar’’ and changing ’’katha’’ to kahani.

But these dont match because the word astitva means identity/position, where the hell did they get the second part from, if you translate it it will mean, ’’identity, a love story.’’ LOL thats hilarious

All in all it seems more like kiran and abhi’s prem kahani than simran and abhi’s. Everyone on this show is having extra marital affairs left right and center. They’re caring, yet sharing each other and playing musical chairs with beds, lol

Now they have added a new man in simran’s life who is supposedely her ex bf, but in the beginning of the show we were told she never ever time for a boyfriend!! what a contradiction.

One character that makes me roll on the floor with laughter is urmilla. That puny, boney, meatless little pigeon thinks she’s soo hot when soo is not. ’’ha, now im financially independent’’ independent my foot!! a loser little house wife only got a job because she’s sleeping with that casanova boss of her’s, ashwin. Stupid idiot can’t even see that he takes advantage of her. I guess all the women are just jealous of simran, but when it comes to fighting with them, all that low voiced and weak simran does is say, ’’now can you please leave my home.’’

Manas never ever smiles, leave alone laugh. I guess alok nath has done his share of smiling and showing all his teeth. But he’s also irritating, his favorite is his oldest as if his other two daughtes dont even exists!! and his youngest daughter, rashmi, is very stupid too, she acts as if her older sister, kavita, never existed. It seems to me her and dr. simran always ganged up on kavita when they were kids LOL

The title song is another annoying thing. And that of course is because of the very bad, squeaky voiced, baby ish voiced cracky mahalxmi iyer who can’t sing to save her life!! how the heck did she even make it this far in her singing career, no wonder she isnt anything in bollywood yet!!!

Ok I think I’ve done enough of making fun of them all, but honestly, this show is still very fascinating and im still hooked onto it only because I’ve been watching it since the very first episode and want to know what will happen next.
