Decent hardware,buggy and poor software

Pros:

Nice design

fast fingerprint scanner( After Dec 2018 update)

Loud main speaker

Superb processing power.

Got two Android updates(but each update was buggy).

External SD card slot is very rare these days. A must-have for people storing multi-media on their devices.

OS needs 1.5GB. I got the 6GB version was overkill. 4GB is enough.

Cons:

Every software update had a bug, which could remove features without warning you, or make things worse, like slowing down the fingerprint scanner, or making the system UI consume some much power that a battery which lasted 2-days lasted not more than 10 hours. Stand-by mode consumed more power than using the phone to play a game that required a 4G connection and GPS!.

Andoird O update was a fiasco. Read the news from March to June/July 2019 for more details.

Screen has a warm tone from the beginning. So white’s don’t look good.

Loudspeaker needs to be below 80% for music and calls to be clear. Sound distorts above that. It’s useful for hearing the ringtone and alarms only.

Poor screen protection. Scratches easily.

Slippery body. Get a cover or else it will break within a week, due to a nasty drop.

Camera hardware is good, but because ASUS didn’t take the trouble to unlock all features by putting an advanced API( which is free for them, they just need to customize for hardware compatibility), PRO mode, which allows you to experiment with focus, light sensitivity etc, is not available, and you can’t take advantage of the camera. Auto mode is not enough.
