On long week end last Dec 2009 , 23rd to 30th , we decided to travel to Athiraplly water fall, to view the place where aiswarya rai danced on rock, so we can see her foot print , just kidding. So started our journey on on 24th Dec around 5:30 am Mysore road, it was like we are one who own the road one vehicle on road, felt like the road was made only for us. So we reached Mylary hotel, in zoo road, at 6:45 AM , had nice masala dosa as he is famous for that then left for kalpetta, we had already booked hotel room in sultan bathery.
We reached there by 8:15 AM , so it was too early for us to check in, so decided to go to temple nearby ( lava kusha) and kuruva island, We reached place by 1:45 Pm in between we witnessed road accident, so we took some time to help them , and move them to hospital, we were there at kuruva at 1:45 Pm we reached there by other direction not from manathvady road, we spend good amount of time, as children were enjoying the water. So nothing to eat as we never expected that place to be no food, we had some fruit which bought while leaving sulthan bathery , so we have good diet lunch.
We reached backed hotel at 4:00 PM rooms were ready, we spend time in place went to nearby places and took nice rest. In morning at 6:00 AM 25th Dec 2009 we continued our journey toward athiraplly, we had already booked hotel in thirsur as It was nearby place.
We reached thirssur at 12:00 pm as there was ayyappa season traffic was more. So our travel time increased by 20%. When checked into hotel and had good lunch there, we asked for route to athiraplly they suggested to go in hired car as it tourist time too much crowd so you may have park car to walk more distance. So after discussion with travel desk we hire taxi and went to place.
We reached the place by 4:30 Pm , Man that was like whole world was there, as all India was there to see the foot step. Falls, it was crowded like hell. So slowly we made way for our self to reach the place had good time spend on taking photos and played little in water , then It was dark already by 6:00 pm, police were asking us to leave, we had taken some junk food so we spend some time having it there and started back to walk by 6:30 pm , you may have to walk about 1 kms to reach the waterfall, we also went down to see the place, there was no much water but we can feel how it could be in monsoon. We missed vacharally falls it was already dark and no water. On the way back we went nice veg hotel in thirssur had dinner rather breakfast, it was also crowed, . Had to wait about 45 minutes to get the place to sit. After having the dinner we went back to hotel rooms by 9:00 Pm, WE slept early as we planned to visit guruvayoor next day.
Guruvayoor was like very nice place crowded with all kind of devotees, we reached guruvyoor by 4:15 AM 26th Dec , it was just 15 min drive from thirssur. Then we parked the car at nearby parking place then reached the temple premises by 4:40 AM temple queue was till entrance gate. So we had expected the same so no surprise. So we decided to stand in the queue, so at last lord Krishna decided to give us darshan for 3 sec, we went inside by 10:30 am, and came back outside by 11:30 am, in-between we could see lord only for 3 sec. We had breakfast by 11:45 AM and left to onward journey back to Bangalore, we decided to take halt in sulthan battery , as it was late in evening and madumalai forest will be closed during the 18:00 – 6:00 , we had booked room in same hotel. This was added to our journey as we went to Cochin beach to spend some time there, it was great fun, had played in the beach had chats and of course took camel ride with children. That was fun. We planned to take body massage but unfortunately persons suppose to come for that job had some bad news in family and left, so we missed. Later we had free breakfast as part of package and left by 11:30 am on 27th Dec.
Reached Mysore by 2:00 pm had lunch in nice hotel, and left for Bangalore in between we stopped for ice cream in the Nandi parlous near maddur. And reached Bangalore by 6:30 pm. Over all good journey , road are very bad in Karnataka after nanjangod to dundlpet. After reaching Kerala border road are good, expect from thirssur to athiraplly road is very narrow. We hard spent about Rs 1700/- for diesel. For total travel of 1500 KMs. We traveled two families it was about Rs 6000/- per family with all travel accommodation and food (except shopping by ladies)
