The book opens with “Who is John Galt?”
It has 1000 odd pages.
It might take around 400 odd pages to understand the relevance of the title(an appropriate one, I must add)
There is a 50 page monolog by one of the central characters in the book.
It talks about a place called Atlantis which you know does not exist or maybe never will ever exist(but hey, you never know!!!)
So, why should one read this book? For me , the answer is pretty simple...Besides giving you utmost satisfaction of reading a well thought out and a good book, Ayn Rands Atlas Shrugged simply INSPIRES you.
Dagny Taggart, the confident and fiercely determined lady who is absolutely passionate about what she does.
Hank Rearden, Francisco dAnconia and John Galt...Every conversation involving these characters makes you think and ponder.
And many other unassuming characters who leave their own mark...
Atlantis...if there ever was such a place, one would certainly want to be a part of it.
Ive not given you the plot nor have I told you what it conveys, coz this is a book that has to be read, understood, interpretations be made and thought over...
But at the end of this long and heady experience, this book inspires you to dream, and chase your dreams with determination and passion and maybe even inspire you to look at life and people in a completely new light...
